Always on the Road, Journeying Toward Democracy and Freedom

Always on the Road, Journeying Toward Democracy and Freedom
—— By Huiwen Lu
My name is Huiwen Lu. I am a steadfast member of the China Democracy Party and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Vice President of The Opposition Party magazine. Publicly opposing the Chinese Communist Party and pursuing democracy and freedom has been my long-standing conviction. Yes—it’s been nearly thirty years since I woke up!
In middle school, I began questioning the lies in our textbooks. I often engaged in fierce debates with classmates, insisting that communism did not and could not exist. I was that “strange kid” who harbored deep doubts about our political and history classes, yet endured the distorted indoctrination, ranking first in my class year after year—eventually becoming the top liberal arts student.
I awakened far too early, and in China, I could find no kindred spirits. People around me saw me as eccentric. Over time, I even started to wonder if I was mentally ill. It was only after I “climbed over the firewall” that I discovered the term “political depression.” I realized—I was not alone. I was not crazy.
Now, standing on free and democratic soil, I have finally found comrades who share the same pursuit for China’s democracy and freedom. I will always walk this road, pressing forward without hesitation, resolutely marching toward democracy and freedom!
