尊敬的普京总统：
您的国家拥有地球上面积最大的国土。1991年，乌克兰分得了603,700平方千米的土地。本已辽阔无边的疆域，本应给您带来安全与自信。回顾历史，法国的拿破仑曾东征俄罗斯，最终失败；德国的希特勒也曾攻打前苏联，同样被击退。俄罗斯凭借抵御外敌侵略赢得了名誉，这份名誉理应被珍惜，并转化为造福世界的力量。
您国家的东正教教义是敬爱上帝的，那么也应当爱邻舍、爱世人。乌克兰人与俄罗斯人同属斯拉夫民族，本是兄弟，何以走到今日兵戎相见、阋墙于内的地步？如果俄罗斯能够在教育、科技与民生上高度发展，完全可以与美国、中国、德国、英国、法国、日本、意大利等国携手，共同开发外太空，探索火星乃至适宜人类居住的星球。那时，人类的目光将投向浩瀚宇宙，而不是在地球上继续争夺土地。
您是一位极为看重“面子”的领导人。俄乌双方若要找到体面的台阶下，关键在于您的抉择。早些时候，美国前总统特朗普事实上已经为您留出过空间。当他没有追究俄罗斯对克里米亚、卢甘斯克和顿涅茨克的控制，而乌克兰提出安全保障与入欧盟的要求之际，若您能适时收手，或许今日局面已不至于如此僵持。
然而，您未能把握机会，反而因不愿收回曾夸下的海口——“给我二十年，还你一个强大的俄罗斯”，而让局势愈发复杂。如今，您仍对乌克兰提出苛刻条件，但对方同样需要“面子”。结果就是，战事拖延，谁也不愿退让。
从历史角度看，俄罗斯曾欺侮过不少周边国家，他们因此大多选择加入北约。这一次，若俄罗斯取胜，欧洲国家岂会袖手旁观？北约绝不会允许您赢得彻底的胜利，而是会竭力拖垮俄罗斯。如果您为了“大帝”的名声，冒然动用核武，势必引来英、法、美的联手反击。那时，俄罗斯或将被瓜分，甚至可能导致民族的消亡。这是多么可怕的后果！一旦如此，您将遗臭万年，成为千古罪人。
尊敬的普京总统，俄罗斯的未来，系于您的一念之间。请您悬崖勒马，立即止步。这样，仍不算太晚。

An open letter to President Vlakimir Putin

Abstract: Dear President Putin: The Orthodox doctrine of your country is to love God, so you should also love your neighbors and the world. Ukrainians and Russians belong to the same Slavic nation. They were originally brothers. How did they get to the point where soldiers meet and fight each other today?
Dear President Putin,
Your country has the largest land area on earth. In 1991, Ukraine was divided into 603,700 square kilometers of land. The already vast and boundless territory should have brought you security and confidence. Looking back on history, Napoleon of France marched on Russia and finally failed; Hitler of Germany also attacked the former Soviet Union and was also repulsed. Russia has won the reputation of resisting foreign aggression, which should be cherished and transformed into a force to benefit the world.
The Orthodox doctrine of your country is to love God, so you should also love your neighbors and the world. Ukrainians and Russians belong to the same Slavic nation. They were originally brothers. How did they get to the point where soldiers meet and fight each other today? If Russia can develop highly in education, science and technology and people’s livelihood, it can work with the United States, China, Germany, Britain, France, Japan, Italy and other countries to jointly develop outer space, explore Mars and even planets suitable for human habitation. At that time, human eyes will be on the vast universe, instead of continuing to compete for land on the earth.
You are a leader who attaches great importance to “face”. If Russia and Ukraine want to find a decent step, the key is your choice. Earlier, former U.S. President Trump had actually made room for you. When he did not pursue Russia’s control over Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk, and Ukraine put forward a request for security and accession to the European Union, if you can give up in a timely manner, maybe today’s situation will not be so deadlocked.
However, you failed to seize the opportunity but made the situation more complicated because you were unwilling to take back the Haikou you once boasted about – “Give me 20 years and give you back a strong Russia”. Nowadays, you still put forward harsh conditions for Ukraine, but the other party also needs “face”. As a result, the war was delayed, and no one was willing to give in.
From a historical point of view, Russia has bullied many neighboring countries, so most of them chose to join NATO. This time, if Russia wins, how can European countries stand by and watch? NATO will never allow you to win a complete victory but will try its best to drag down Russia. If you use nuclear weapons for the sake of the reputation of the “Emperor”, it will inevitably attract the joint counterattack of Britain, France and the United States. At that time, Russia may be divided, which may even lead to the extinction of the nation. What a terrible consequence! Once this is the case, you will leave a stench for thousands of years and become a sinner for thousands of years.
Dear President Putin, the future of Russia lies in your thoughts. Please stop the cliff and stop immediately. In this way, it’s not too late.
