Huawei: A Epitome of the CCP’s Logic of Power
Author: Zhang Ting
As a well-known Chinese private enterprise, Huawei’s responses to numerous controversial incidents in recent years have continuously depleted public trust. Looking across Huawei’s performance in handling problems, which of its actions does not closely resemble that of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)?
On October 17, 2026, an AITO M9 vehicle crashed into a traffic light pole in Shenmu City, subsequently catching fire, which tragically resulted in the death of the driver. After the accident, Huawei issued an official statement claiming that the fire was caused by “a severe impact to the engine bay at high speed, triggering a line short-circuit and fluid leakage.” Yet, for such a major corporation to use vehicle speed as a shield and pass the buck to the car owner—without even conducting a genuine safety investigation—is alarming. Nevertheless, there are still many clear-headed people; facing this situation, netizens used surveillance footage to solve a physics problem, estimating that the car speed was noticeably low. Huawei’s attempt to cover up the truth with a simple piece of paper is utterly despicable.
There have already been multiple public reports of accidents involving casualties or car fires related to AITO, yet Huawei has failed to place human rights first, refusing to identify its own flaws, and keeping accident investigations and transparency undisclosed every time. On October 22, netizens captured footage showing that the periphery of the traffic light pole previously struck by the Huawei AITO M9 had been blocked off by hoardings, set to be demolished shortly. Huawei’s pattern of passing the buck whenever something goes wrong, acting as “number one in censorship,” to the point of executing “blockade and stability maintenance” even on a single traffic light pole, truly leaves everyone utterly dumbfounded.
During the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic, the CCP demonstrated blame-shifting to the absolute extreme: first passing the buck to the public, alleging it was caused by people recklessly eating wild meat; then passing the buck to the United States, encouraging the populace to hate America; and finally passing the buck to the rest of the world, asserting that China had achieved dynamic zero-COVID and could resume work, claiming any re-emergence was caused entirely by external imports. In the early stages of the pandemic, they silenced Li Wenliang, Fang Bin, and Zhang Zhan; the virus leaked globally, resulting in millions of deaths, yet the CCP refused to face the disaster brought to the whole world, opting instead to continuously whitewash itself. After the outbreak, disregarding science and ignoring human rights, the CCP implemented extreme lockdowns across the country in the name of stability maintenance, making the people the ultimate sacrifices and destroying the vitality of society.
In September 2026, a statement from a prospective AITO car owner circulated online: because they complained on a social platform about the delivery plan and vehicle pickup progress, personnel involved contacted their employer, demanding the deletion of the content. Similarly, on October 22, the official account of Sohu Auto was banned for 15 days for publishing content related to the AITO explosion and fire accident. Huawei’s operational style in these cases is precisely about controlling public opinion and covering up the truth.
The CCP acts in the exact same manner. To cover up the truth, human lives seem entirely unimportant in their eyes; the CCP consistently uses the guise of national security to block information. Incidents such as the June Fourth Massacre and COVID-19 lockdowns resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Chinese people, and these deaths were built upon their violent regime. Under such authoritarian rule, many people are kept uninformed; those who know do not dare to speak for fear of being taught a lesson, suppressed, or sentenced. Consequently, every attempt to speak out is met with punishment, as the CCP attempts to permanently erase these histories. Any information touching upon high-level corruption, religious persecution, organ transplantation, the origin of the pandemic, or real economic figures is blocked layer upon layer by firewalls, deleted, met with arrests, or silenced. The CCP creates a society where all citizens live inside a massive illusion, deprived even of the right to question, able only to accept what the CCP dictates, believing whatever the CCP wishes them to believe.
The Huawei “251” incident involved Li Hongyuan, who had worked at Huawei for 12 years. After leaving the company, he negotiated a severance package of over 300,000 RMB. However, once the funds arrived, Huawei reported him for alleged extortion, resulting in his detention for 251 days. Huawei’s actions were pure hooliganism. How is the CCP any different? CCP police often openly violate human rights in law enforcement, displaying a rogue demeanor and pattern of behavior. Facing religious faith, the CCP labels normal belief as an “evil cult organization,” characterizing normal gatherings and evangelism of believers as social threats, hiding behind the guise of freedom of religion while simultaneously suppressing churches. The “709” incident showed us even more clearly the CCP authorities’ insult and demonization of rights-defending lawyers, shamelessly turning black into white and calling a horse a deer. Lawyers who originally worked in good faith, prioritizing the interests of the people, were arbitrarily labeled by the CCP; many lost their law licenses, and some were even sentenced to prison.
Over these years, Huawei has manufactured a great deal of industrial junk, yet they have packaged moral-kidnapping marketing as patriotic sentiment, using gimmicks like “if you don’t buy it, you are unpatriotic” to force the public to pay for their inferior products—a complete form of moral kidnapping. Under the rule of the CCP, when you are unwilling to cheer for the system, you become unpatriotic; when you question the truth of state propaganda, you become unpatriotic; when you insist on speaking the truth, you become unpatriotic. The CCP likewise uses patriotic sentiment to kidnap generations of people, depriving them of the right to make free choices.
Huawei is a “criminal enterprise” operating through “theft, lies, and cover-ups,” with a pattern of illegal conduct spanning roughly 20 years, including racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to steal trade secrets, bank fraud, wire fraud, violation of sanctions against Iran, money laundering, and obstruction of justice. Huawei’s actions truly know no bottom line. Similarly, the CCP is a government that thoroughly disregards rules and lacks contractual integrity. On the Hong Kong issue, the Sino-British Joint Declaration explicitly promised that Hong Kong would enjoy a high degree of autonomy, guaranteeing freedoms of speech, publication, assembly, and religious belief, with the relevant basic policies remaining unchanged for fifty years. In 2020, Beijing implemented the Hong Kong National Security Law and subsequently altered the qualifications for legislators. No rule holds binding force over the CCP; it alters rules based on practical needs and invents various excuses to justify its rogue behavior.
Huawei’s various actions show us that it is cut from the exact same cloth as the CCP: placing image above truth, obedience above power, treating criticism as hostility, and viewing accountability as a threat. A genuinely good enterprise and society should be authentic, brave enough to accept criticism and correction, and treat the people with respect.
