2017年的一天，我和一个台湾朋友用微信聊天，因我深知微信是被中共控制的，如果说敏感词可能会被封号，这一场沟通出现了他一个人不停的说，而我不敢回复的情况。那个时候他总说“台湾怎么样、中国怎么样”，而我忌惮于中国和台湾这两个词的对立。我很抵触用“台湾”和“大陆”这两个词的，这两个中共喜欢用的词让我觉得不舒服，也会让我台湾的朋友不舒服。于是我想了好久该如何表达地点，我和他说以后你就直接说“台湾怎么样”、“北京怎么样”、“上海怎么样”就行。他生气了，说：“你生活在一个什么样的地方啊？话都不能说，不能说就不说了。”

他的大概以为每一个生活在中共统治区的人都讨厌台湾，或者都是坚持主张：台湾是中共的“一个中国”原则，所以有时候对我说话很冲，似乎是抓住了一个敌人一样，那种冲的语气让他情绪激动到忘了——我们是朋友。其实，叶总，我一直想对你说：我虽然生在中共统治的土地上，虽然我被捂上了嘴、不能在中国光明正大的表达，但是我一直想告诉你，我坚持——台湾是一个独立的国家！

请叶兄以及和叶兄一样热爱台湾的台湾人不要失望：不只我，身边还有一些有良知，有独立思考能力，有自己想法的人。哪怕在中共高压统治下，在中共把支持台湾是一个独立国家设立为中共最高法律判罚之一（最高可判死刑），也一直反对中共提出的一个中国的说法。我们永远支持台湾是一个独立的国家，为你们的自由、民主、法治之路骄傲，也始终与世界上所有支持台湾的人站在一起！

为了更好的支持和声援台湾——一个独立国家，支持台湾的自由民主，我们中国民主党成立了《支援台湾事务部》，我们会不定期举办支持台湾的活动，用实际行动与所有热爱自由与民主的人并肩，守护台湾这盏自由民主之灯。

台湾人民与中国人民曾同根同源，在中国被中共邪恶政权夺权后，中国这片土地陷入了前所未有的凄惨境地。值得庆幸的是，台湾人民在自己的国土上守住了文明之光，用自由、民主、法治守护中华民族的未来。

中共从历史书及民间文学与信息中剔除了国民党在抗日时期的贡献，并对国民党极尽诋毁，用电影、歌曲等形式篡改历史、颠倒黑白。使许多不明真相的中国民众对国民党、蒋介石、台湾产生敌意，同时在意识形态和主流媒体上塑造中共的“伟大”形象。在这片媒体被中共把控，变成他们的肉喇叭的土地上，人民难以获得事实真相，这种监狱般的信息控制推缓了中国人民接近文明的时间。但我仍相信有许多中国人善良、能分清善恶、内心渴望自由民主。他们只是被蒙蔽、被恐吓、被迫坚持“一个中国”原则。在一个台独罪最高可判死刑的环境中，普通人无法作出自由的选择。

值得庆幸的是，我在越来越多的关于台湾的视频或者文章的评论区，看到越来越多生活在中共统治下的中国人用自己的方式支持台湾。哪怕在台湾是中国的这种主题的视频下评论一句“凭啥”，也是他们的反抗，即便在那些诋毁台湾、鼓励台湾“回到中国”的视频下反讽的写出“回来干嘛，回来等着被摘器官，回来等着吃地沟油吗？“也深刻地表达了对中共的反抗，对台湾的支持。这样的例子很多，比如一个孩子在台湾的山峰上举着中国国旗的视频下有人评论“傻子”，也有很多人不敢发声只能为这个评论默默点赞。在中共高压统治下，中国进入了网络文革式的时期，老百姓的一言一行都被深度监控，但仍有越来越多的蛛丝马迹表明，老百姓虽然不敢说什么，但是他们心念与中共不同。

这种不同，就是希望，哪怕中国短期内难以立刻实现民主与自由，但是越来越多的在苦难中的中国人把祝福送给台湾：你们是自由民主之光、是华夏文明的希望、证明华人也能拥有自由民主。请珍惜这来之不易的光，也请你们替另外一片土地上，那些为了追求自由民主之光而失去生命的人活下去！

Taiwan: The Light of Chinese Democracy

Abstract:

Under the CCP’s high-pressure rule, Chinese people cannot freely speak from the heart, yet many still firmly support Taiwan’s freedom and democracy. Despite tight information control and enormous risks, people continue to express resistance and solidarity in various ways, placing their hopes in Taiwan—the beacon of liberty in the Chinese-speaking world.

In 2017, I was chatting with a Taiwanese friend on WeChat. Knowing that WeChat is controlled by the CCP and that using sensitive words could get my account blocked, the conversation became one-sided: he kept talking, while I didn’t dare to reply. He constantly said “Taiwan this, China that,” but I was afraid of these two opposing terms. I resisted using the words “Taiwan” and “Mainland”—expressions the CCP likes—which made both me and my Taiwanese friend uncomfortable. So I spent a long time thinking about how to refer to places and finally told him: just say “Taiwan,” “Beijing,” or “Shanghai.” He got angry and said, “What kind of place do you live in? You can’t even talk? If you can’t say it, then forget it.”

He probably believed that everyone living under CCP rule hated Taiwan or insisted on the CCP’s “One China” principle. So sometimes he spoke to me harshly, as if confronting an enemy—so agitated that he forgot we were friends. In fact, Brother Yeh, I’ve always wanted to tell you: Although I was born on land ruled by the CCP, although my mouth is covered and I cannot openly express myself in China, I have always wanted to say—I firmly believe Taiwan is an independent country!

Please, Brother Yeh, and all Taiwanese people who love Taiwan, do not lose heart: it is not only me. There are people around me with conscience, independent thinking, and their own views. Even under CCP high-pressure rule, even when supporting Taiwan’s status as an independent country is treated as one of the most severe political crimes (with a maximum penalty of death), we have always opposed the CCP’s so-called “One China” claim. We will always support Taiwan as an independent country, feel proud of your path of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, and stand with all people around the world who support Taiwan.

To better support and stand with Taiwan—an independent country—and to support Taiwan’s freedom and democracy, the China Democracy Party has established the “Department of Support for Taiwan Affairs.” We will hold events regularly to support Taiwan and take concrete action to stand side by side with all who cherish freedom and democracy, guarding Taiwan—the shining light of liberty.

The peoples of Taiwan and China once shared the same cultural roots. After the CCP seized power, the land of China entered unprecedented misery. Fortunately, the people of Taiwan preserved the light of civilization on their own soil, safeguarding the future of the Chinese nation through freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.

The CCP has erased the Nationalists’ contributions during the Anti-Japanese War from history books and from collective memory, maligning the Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek, and Taiwan. Through films, songs, and propaganda, it has distorted history and reversed right and wrong. As the CCP controls all major media—turning them into loudspeakers—it becomes difficult for people to access the truth. This prison-like information control has delayed China’s approach to civilization. But I still believe many Chinese people are kind, can distinguish good from evil, and yearn for freedom and democracy. They are deceived, intimidated, and forced to uphold the “One China” principle. Under a political environment where “Taiwan independence” can be punished by death, ordinary people cannot make free choices.

Fortunately, I have seen more and more Chinese mainlanders supporting Taiwan in the comment sections of videos or articles related to Taiwan. Even under videos insisting that “Taiwan belongs to China,” someone will comment “Why?”—and that single word is resistance. Even comments such as “Why come back? Come back to wait for organ harvesting? Come back to eat gutter oil?” beneath videos smearing Taiwan express deep opposition to the CCP and support for Taiwan. There are many such examples: under a video showing a child raising the PRC flag on a mountain in Taiwan, someone commented, “Idiot,” and many others who didn’t dare to speak still quietly clicked “like.” Under the CCP’s oppressive rule, China is entering an online environment similar to a new Cultural Revolution, where people’s every word and action is tightly monitored. Yet more and more signs show that although people do not dare to speak, their hearts are not aligned with the CCP.

This difference is hope. Although China may not be able to achieve democracy and freedom immediately, more and more suffering Chinese people are sending their blessings to Taiwan: You are the light of freedom and democracy; you are the hope of Chinese civilization; you prove that Chinese people can also have freedom and democracy. Please cherish this hard-won light—and please live on for those across the sea who lost their lives in the search for that same light of freedom and democracy.
